1. Does it oxidize over time?
No, it doesn’t. Olli Block contains no materials subject to oxidation.
2. Does it have bearings inside?
No, it doesn’t use bearings. Its technology allows it to self-lubricate, eliminating the rotational friction of the sheave.
3. Is the Dyneema loop included?
Absolutely yes. With the snatch block, you’ll also receive its Dyneema loop, already prepared and ready to rig.
4. Since it’s openable, is there a risk it might break under load?
No. Olli Block is a monolithic design, with no tension applied to the opening mechanism. The opening system is rotational, not hinged, and has been specifically engineered to remain completely unstressed under load.
5. Where can i use it on my boat?
Anywhere you’d use a traditional block. The only difference is that, since it uses a Dyneema loop instead of a stainless steel shackle, you’ll never have to worry about the pin unscrewing.
It’s best not to use it on sharp edges that could damage the loop; if needed, smooth the working surface with fine sandpaper or protect the loop with a soft sleeve.
